Performs assignments designed to continue to develop professional engineering work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Assignments will require limited independent judgment, with application of a routine, non-complex nature under the supervision of a professional Engineer. Assignments shall have clear and specified objectives with limited variables.


  • Performs design and calculation tasks based on standard engineering techniques and procedures. Applies standard practices, engineering fundamentals, and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, and follows design through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
  • Abilities to include all general civil engineering design, including but not limited to: site planning, phasing, master planning, demolition, erosion control, geometry, paving, grading, drainage, storm water, utilities, potable water, site fire, sanitary sewer, reclaimed water, lift stations, profiles, cross sections and details.
  • Performs design of portions of projects under direction of Project Engineer, or other responsible staff member.
  • Prepares reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and permits for projects, under the direction of Project Engineer or other responsible staff member.
  • Performs computer aided design drafting to produce designs into routine final drawings.
  • Research discipline-related code issues and present interpretation.
  • Visits construction site to review, monitor, and report progress and perform other construction administration duties per the contract documents.
  • Uses company and discipline department computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Must be proficient in the use of personal computers.
  • Instructs draftspersons and engineering designers to produce designs into working drawings.
  • Perform checking of one’s own work and work prepared by drafters and engineering designers.
  • Provide coordination of all applicable project discipline’s drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Promote communications, cooperation and quality among staff.

  • Responsible for job specific standards, practices and quality as defined in BRPH Systems Manuals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret applicable codes, standards, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, co-workers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and financial functions.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Performs under close supervision of the Director of Civil Engineering, and under Civil Engineers II, and above for daily tasks. Supervisor screens assignments and monitors work and work product. Receives close supervision and mentoring from assigned supervisor and/or mentor. Work will be reviewed and checked during the progress and at each submittal stage.





  • Must be proficient in the use of:
  • Microsoft Windows, Excel, Project, Power Point and Word
  • Auto CAD
  • Civil 3D
  • Storm CAD
  • Water CAD
  • ICPR






  • Must possess a valid driver’s license 
  • Certificate of Engineering Intern
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university and one year experience as an Engineer I in Civil Engineering
